Mycrodose Edibles and Sour Diesel Eighth Flower

Welcome to Chris’ Cannabis Corner.

The title of today’s review is: Something Old, something New.

In the Old category we have Sour Diesel from Speakeasy Cannabis Co., an old strain and, in this case, some pretty, pretty, old weed. In the new category we have some Mycrodose Capsules from Natyure’s Heritage. My review day came on my day off when my whole family was out of the house, so it was just me. So I took advantage and really tried to give each of these products the test runs they deserved.

Let’s start with the Sour Diesel. I picked up this 1/8th for a very, very, very affordable price, just $12 after tax. But a closer inspection does reveal a possible pitfall! The weed is just almost a year old. This might cause some concern and spark fears of dry, crumbly, flower.   But fret not, that was not the case!!!

  1. Smell – Mild diesel/petrol notes, but nice. It’s not a blast of gas, but you get the general smell of what you would expect from a Sour Diesel.
  2. Appearance – This weed does not look almost a year old, I will tell you that. The buds are nicely trimmed, they have a little squeeze and don’t crumble. The buds grind up very nicely and are fluffy and easy to pack into a cone.
  1. Taste – This is where the fact that this stuff is a year old comes into play. The taste of mostly mild and kind of “far away”. The defining characteristic is that it’s a little harsh and slightly burns the throat when smoked, not too bad, but it’s there.
  2. High – Pretty good high.  It’s definitely a sativa. I was doing a lot of thinking, I was clear headed but felt imaginative and active. Just what you want in a nice sativa.

After smoking this, I ate a big Poké bowl and then went and played pinball. This weed was perfect for both of these activities.

Next up is the something new category of the review. This is the MycroDose capsules by Nature’s Heritage.   This are being touted as a new and exiting combination of Cannabis and Mushrooms.  Now, don’t get too excited, we’re not talking about “magic” mushrooms, just the regular legal edible kind. The theory is that the mushrooms used in this capsule are believed to provide some natural “caffeine” or energy effects. In the case of the Spark option I tried the added mushrooms and herbs are: Lion’s Mane, Shiitake, and Ginseng.

  1. Smell – Well, there’s not much to smell here folks. These are just large pills that you swallow. And if you are someone who has a difficult time swallowing pills these are going to be an issue. They are fairly large and need a bit of water to get down.
  2. Appearance – Its a plain light brown pill, what else can I tell ya folks.
  1. Taste – Well, since it’s a pill you are not supposed to chew it, you just swallow it, but I wanted to all in on this review, so I chewed one of them up. And …… Well it’s not great. It’s a little bitter, has an earthy, kind of funky taste to it, but it was chewable and edible. More than likely, most folks will simply swallow these.
  2. High – The folks who make these are advertising them as Full spectrum and I did get that effect. Generally with full spectrum edibles I get a real body high and feel very mellow. That was the case here. None of this so called energy effects hit me, I just felt like I had taken 20 milligrams of RSO or Full spectrum oil.   But it was a nice high and it was nice not having to chew four sugary gummies.

In summary of the capsules – They are nice and compact, they won’t melt, you can store them anywhere. They are strong like a good Full spectrum edible, but they lack the energizing qualities that they are advertising. I was going to take these and then go to Food Truck Friday, but a torrential rain storm blew through and I ended up just watching it from my porch which turned out to be a perfectly good way to enjoy these edibles.

So, in a nutshell –

a. Don’t be afraid of old cheap weed

b. Do smoke and play pinball

c. Do watch the rain fall when you have a chance
